TOPEKA (KSNT) – Four straight wins for the Ichabods.
Washburn baseball (16-23, 12-13 MIAA) completed a series sweep over Arkansas-Fort Smith, winning on Saturday 10-0 in eight innings.
It marked win No. 300 for head coach Harley Douglas.
Washburn opened the scoring in the first with a two-run single from Easton Wasinger.
The Ichabods found the scoreboard again in the fifth inning with a two-run blast from Levi Risenhoover. Easton Wasinger would score in the inning from a balk.
Washburn added to its tally in the sixth with an RBI single from Ian Luce and two-run triple from Risenhoover.
The Ichabods would cap off the scoring in the eighth, scoring off a hit by pitch.
Gavin Wilhelm got the win for the Ichabods on the mound. Through 3.2 innings, he allowed two hits. He struck out two and walked three.
Mark Hoffmann got the save, pitching 4.1 innings in relief. He allowed two hits while striking out five.
Washburn looks to extend its win streak to five on the road Tuesday against Fort Hays State. First pitch set for 3 p.m.
