TOPEKA (KSNT) – Visitors at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center (KCDC) in Topeka may notice some new construction work taking place outside this spring.
The KCDC recently announced that workers will start to install new outdoor options for kids when they are looking to play outside. This consists of the addition of two new outdoor themed environments for children to play on: Happy Hollow and Wonderway.
The KCDC said these new areas will be under construction from April 12 through to early May this year. Construction work will result in some temporary closures in the exterior areas at the KCDC, such as access to the treehouse and pirate ship play areas.

Wonderway
Described as a “hands-on adventure zone” for curious and capable kids, Wonderway will offer children opportunities at exploration, creative risk-taking and fort building, according to the KCDC. Children can grab branches, build their own forts and hideaways in this new area.
Happy Hollow
Happy Hollow offers kids a chance to explore small homes and other tiny spaces in a “whimsical village” to stoke imaginative play, according to the KCDC. Happy Hollow will feature cozy spaces and furniture carved from logs to give kids a place to have their owner adventures and build their own stories together.
You can find the KCDC at 4400 SW 10th Ave. in Topeka’s Gage Park. You can learn more about the construction work for Happy Hollow and Wonderway by clicking here.
