TOPEKA (KSNT) – Shawnee County leaders signed off on a multi-million-dollar deal with a nonprofit developer to bring more affordable housing to the area.
Resource Housing Group introduced a proposal to build a new 42-unit multi-family housing facility southwest of Topeka, near 37th Street and Gage Boulevard. The total estimated cost is $12 million dollars, with $9 million of that expected to come from state and federal low-income housing tax credits.
Commissioners voted three-to-zero to approve a resolution to issue internal revenue bonds to be repaid by the developer.
If approved by the state on May 15, construction is expected to begin by this time in 2027.
