OSAWATOMIE, Kan. — There have been countless storms in the Kansas City metro over the last couple of weeks, causing damage and flooding in multiple counties.
FOX4 shared clean up efforts being made within various cities Monday morning.
Now, a local animal rescue is seeing damage too, from flooding caused by the recent down pour of rain.

There are always animals in need, and homes to be shared, including for pets at Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary.
The rescue has a few locations, including in Spring Hill, Osawatomie, and Wichita.
It’s Osawatomie shelter recently flooded, from Sunday night’s rain.
“It was coming up on all sides of the walls. We just paid for renovations, but we are still having these troubles,” Baylee Morris, the Manager at the shelter’s Osawatomie location said about the Sunday night flooding.
Just hours before, six dogs arrived at the rescue from a breeder.
“We are their family until they find their family,” Morris said.
The flooding led the shelter to issue an emergent foster plea.
“Water was rising so fast, it was actually getting into their kennels,” Morris added. “We had six of them that left last night.”
The rescue’s Spring Hill shelter had its pony pens flooded too.
“To hear thunder, and lightning, and especially all the hail that we’ve had – it can be a lot,” Manager of the Spring Hill shelter, Mary Jackson said.

If you’d like to drop off items, such as blankets, towels, rugs or bedding, you can do so at 32874 Beaver Lake Road in Osawatomie, Kansas.
The National Weather Service reported Kansas City picked up 3.56 inches of rain over the past 24 hours. The NWS says the amount of rain that is normal for the entire month of April in Kansas City is 4.05 inches.
The Spring Hill and Osawatomie areas saw around 2 – 3.5 inches.
