TOPEKA (KSNT) – The City of Topeka is rolling out a new campaign this week to help residents get access to free tablets and improve internet access for locals.
Dan Garrett, a spokesman for the City of Topeka, said in a press release on May 4 that the city is launching its newest TSC Get Digital campaign. This initiative is designed to increase access to technology among members of the local community.
“Access to technology is no longer a luxury; it is essential for education, employment, healthcare, and staying connected,” said Monique Glaudeˊ, director of the Office of Inclusive Communities in Topeka. “Working to close the digital divide ensures that all of our neighbors have the opportunity to thrive, regardless of income or circumstance.”

Garrett said that, under this new program, eligible locals who are 18 or older can qualify to get a free tablet alongside access to resources that support digital connectivity, education and economic opportunity. The Kansas Health Foundation is funding this initiative.
The Get Digital campaign is geared towards supporting low to moderate-income households in Topeka and people who are participating in assistance programs or those who meet income eligibility guidelines. Some eligibility requirements can be found below:
- Must be at least 18 years old or older
- Must live in Topeka
- Must meet income or program participation requirements for the Supplemental Food Assistance Program, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, federal public housing assistance or similar qualifications.
Garrett said devices will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Applicants must give required documentation and attend a scheduled pickup appointment. Residents who have previously received a device through the Get Digital campaign do not qualify for another device.
