Tonight brings another chance for isolated thunderstorms across northeast Kansas. Any storms that develop should come to an end during the early morning hours on Sunday. A few storms could produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall. Overnight temperatures will once again fall into the 70s.
A cold front is expected to move into the region by the end of the weekend, bringing some much-needed relief from the heat. Temperatures will drop back into the 80s and lower 90s, especially for areas near and north of the front. Locations farther south could remain warmer, so we’ll be watching the front’s position closely through the weekend.
Behind the front, northerly winds and much drier air will move into the area, causing dew points to fall significantly. The less humid air will make for a noticeable change, with morning lows dropping into the 60s early next week.
Temperatures will begin climbing again by Tuesday, reaching the upper 80s. Periodic rain chances will remain in the forecast through the week, while heat gradually starts to build back into the region heading toward next weekend.
