Temperatures tonight will fall into the upper 60s, while dew points also settle into the 60s, making it feel only slightly humid. The sky will remain mostly clear, and winds will stay light through the night. By early Tuesday morning, winds will gradually shift to the south, allowing warmer air to return to the region.
Tuesday will bring a warmer day, with highs climbing into the lower 90s under mostly sunny skies. Most of the daytime hours will remain dry, but thunderstorms are expected to develop and move into the area Tuesday evening. Areas north of I-70 have the greatest chance of seeing strong to severe storms Tuesday night and are currently included in a slight risk for severe weather. The primary threats will be gusty winds and small hail.
A few showers and thunderstorms may linger into Wednesday before cooler air settles into the region. High temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday will only reach the lower 80s, providing a break from the heat. Several mornings this week will also start off in the 60s, making for comfortable conditions.
Looking ahead, temperatures will gradually begin to warm once again by next weekend. Highs are expected to return to the upper 80s, which is close to average for this time of year.
