ST. LOUIS (KSNT) – Topeka native and former Kansas golfer Gary Woodland is heading back to the Tour Championship.
Woodland finished tied for fourth at the BMW Championship on Sunday, shooting a final-round 1-under 69 to finish the tournament at 12-under par.
The strong week was enough to send Woodland to the Tour Championship for the first time since 2019.
“It took a lot out there. I’ve had a good year, and I’m proud of it,” Woodland told CBS in an interview on Sunday. “Through all the hardships I’ve had, I’m proud of where I’m at.”
Woodland entered the BMW Championship sitting 31st in the FedExCup standings, one spot outside the cutoff for the 30-player Tour Championship field. His performance at Bellerive vaulted him to No. 18 in the final standings.
Woodland will compete at the Tour Championship beginning on Aug. 27 in Atlanta.
