KENT, OH (KSNT) – A bounce-back win for the Jayhawks.
The No. 12 Kansas soccer team beat Kent State on the road Sunday, Aug. 23, 3-1. The win improves Kansas to 3-1 in the young season.
After a scoreless first half, Jillion Gregorski would find the back of the net in the 74th minute with a header off a corner kick from Livvy Moore. She would score her brace two minutes later, finding the top left corner of the net with an assist from Caroline Castans. Castans would make it three in the 79th minute to put the Jayhawks up three with Moore’s second assist.
Kent State would pull one back in the 86th minute but it would only be a consolation.
“We challenged the team after a tough match and tough result on Thursday to bounce back and find a way to have the right level of urgency and sharpness on a day that it’s not gonna come naturally, on the road, against a very good opponent,” Kansas head coach Nate Lie said. “Kent State gave us all we can handle today. We really needed to organize and stay really compact. They didn’t let us get to the spaces that we usually want to get to. So we had to be patient.”
The Jayhawks stay on the road Aug. 27, for a matchup with Utah Valley.
