TOPEKA (KSNT) — Another former Kansas State baseball player has reached the big leagues.
Former Wildcat right-handed pitcher Blake Adams made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut on the night of Monday, Aug. 24 for the Colorado Rockies, becoming the fifth former K-State player to make his MLB debut in the last five seasons.
“We couldn’t be prouder of a K-State family member,” K-State head coach Pete Hughes said in a press release on Aug. 25. “Blake is a great example of resiliency, and a great example of how this game always comes back to good people who work like crazy.”
Adams entered in the bottom of the seventh inning with Colorado trailing 8-2. He faced nine batters and finished his first MLB appearance allowing five earned runs on five hits over one inning.
The right-hander was able to settle in and record three outs, including inducing a double play to end the inning.

The Springdale, Arkansas, native spent one season at K-State in 2022 before the Rockies selected him in the 13th round of the 2022 MLB Draft.
Adams made 17 appearances for the Wildcats, including 13 weekend starts, and finished his lone season in Manhattan with a 6-6 record and 5.07 ERA. He struck out 90 batters while issuing 34 walks.
Adams’ 90 strikeouts remain tied for 10th on K-State’s single-season list. He also earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors during his time in Manhattan.
