TOPEKA (KSNT) — The ‘Bods open the season in the win column to kick off 2026.
Mackinly Rohn opened up the scoring just two minutes in off the penalty kick.
Maryville gained some momentum in the latter half of the first, but the Washburn defense and goalkeepers held strong, leading 1-0 at the half.
Leah Henke was knocking on the door early in the second half, before shooting one just past the Maryville netminder to increase the ‘Bods lead, 2-0.
Just over five minutes later, Henke would knock in her second of the night with Bricelyn Betts grabbing the assist.
In the 62nd minute, Rohn would round out the night with her second goal of the match, to give Washburn the 4-0 win. Henke collected her third point of the night on Rohn’s second goal.
Lili Everley had one save in 73 minutes played, while Ize Tidball racked up six in the game’s final 17 minutes.
No. 4 Washburn will return to Yager Stadium on Saturday to host No. 9 University of Missouri St.-Louis. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
