Temperatures tonight will remain warm, only falling into the upper 70s. We will stay mostly clear, with a few passing clouds possible by early Sunday morning. Southerly winds will remain breezy, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph at times.
Sunday, we’re tracking plenty of sunshine along with gusty south winds. The southerly flow will usher in additional warm air, pushing highs into the upper 90s on Sunday and through next week.
Heat index values could climb as high as 105 degrees in some locations. Wind gusts may reach 40 mph on Sunday, which is also the annual Topeka Food Truck Festival, once again falling on what appears to be the hottest day of the week.
Looking ahead, our next slim chance of storms arrives Sunday night into Monday morning, albeit a low chance. Any storms should clear early Monday, but temperatures will remain hot with highs continuing in the middle to upper 90s. Overnight lows will only fall into the middle 70s, leading to warm starts each morning. Dew points will also gradually increase by the end of the weekend, bringing more humidity back to the area.
