Sunday, we’re tracking plenty of sunshine along with gusty south winds. The southerly flow will usher in additional warm air, pushing highs into the upper 90s to lower 100s on Sunday and through next week.
Heat index values could climb as high as 102° in some locations, fortunately with lower humidity the air isn’t highly uncomfortable. Wind gusts may reach 30-40 mph on Sunday, which is also the annual Topeka Food Truck Festival. A hot day, but should feel decent with the breeze and drier air.
Looking ahead, our next slim chance of storms arrives Sunday night into Monday morning, albeit a low chance. Any storms should be in the northwestern areas and clear early Monday, but temperatures will remain warm tonight with a low near 80°. Monday, highs continuing in the upper 90s. Overnight lows will only fall into the middle 70s this week, leading to warm starts each morning. Dew points will also gradually increase by the end of the weekend, bringing more humidity back to the area.
