LAWRENCE (KSNT) — A come-from-behind win for the Jayhawks.
The No. 17 Kansas soccer team (4-2) beat Tulsa at home on Sunday, 2-1.
Tulsa scored the opening goal in the 32nd minute despite 12 first-half shots for Kansas.
Kansas would finally find the back of the net in the 66th minute, when Marit McLaughlin finished a perfect pass from Jocelyn Herrema to equalize the game.
With the game tied, Tulsa drew a penalty, but goalkeeper Sophie Dawe dove left to make the save and keep the game tied.
KU would capitalize in the 83rd minute when Norah Jacomen finished a header off a pass from Livvy Moore to secure the win for the Jayhawks.
Despite only putting in two goals, Kansas tied a program record with 36 shots in the game.
“Finishing is hard. If you keep knocking on the door and putting the ball in dangerous areas, more often than not, the ball will finally bounce our way,” head coach Nate Lie told 27 Sports.
“There was a little frustation (after the first half) but mostly it was motivations. As a collective we knew we were going to get the win,” Jacomen added.
The Jayhawks are back at home on Thursday, Sept. 3, when Kansas City comes to town. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
