PITTSBURGH, Pa. (KSNT) — No. 15 Kansas dropped its second-straight ranked matchup on Sunday to round out the Opening Spike Classic.
The Jayhawks battled through four sets, taking the second set after dropping the first. KU ultimately dropped a close fourth set, 25-21, to lose the match 3-1.
The Jayhawks were led by the Freshman Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year, Taylor Stanley, who had 21 kills, followed by Reese Ptacek with 12. Reese Messer added 38 assists.
KU had a .132 hitting percentage compared to Stanford’s .282%.
Up next, Kansas will take on Lipscomb on Sept. 3.
