EMPORIA (KSNT) — An Emporia State Hornet takes the first weekly conference award.
Emporia State linebacker Landon Boss has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week after his strong performance in the Hornets’ 36-30 win over Minot State.
Boss recorded a career-high 17 tackles in the win. That included two tackles for loss, half a sack and a forced fumble.
The Osage City native’s 17 tackles are the most by a Hornet since Gabe Cleveland recorded 19 tackles against Northwest Missouri on August 31, 2017, per ESU Athletics.
Boss and the Hornets open up MIAA play on Saturday when the team stays on the road to take on No. 11 Pittsburg State (D2Football.com).
