Washburn volleyball’s Emma Siron and Shannon Frakes were both given MIAA Volleyball Athlete of the Week honors for their performances in week one of the regular season.
Siron, who was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week, led the Ichabods in kills with 58, as well as aces with seven. Siron picked up 20 kills in the season-opener against Oklahoma Christian, while notching a double-double against Westminster with 13 kills and 15 digs.
Frakes led Washburn with 52 digs in the opening weekend and had 162 digs across four matches. The junior had 47 assists and 19 digs to kick off the season against Oklahoma Christian, and has already notched three double-doubles in the early season.
Siron, Frakes and the No. 8 Ichabods will return to the court for the Sioux Falls Classic in South Dakota starting Sept. 3 against Black Hills State. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
