TOPEKA (KSNT) – Downtown Topeka, Inc. (DTI) has a new president.
Bob Ross with the Greater Topeka Partnership (GTP) announced in a press release on Sept. 1 that Rhett Flood will serve as the next president for DTI. The Board of Directors for DTI conducted a long search process before identifying Flood as an ideal candidate for the role.
Flood, who currently serves as vice president of marketing and communications for the GTP, previously served as executive director of Forge Young Talent. His work over the last 10 years has included areas related to tourism, advocacy, community engagement and more.
“Rhett brings a unique combination of strategic thinking, relationship-building, and community leadership experience,” said Abby Lear, chair of the DTI Board of Directors and executive director of Operations at Kansas State University. “Throughout the search process, he demonstrated a clear vision for Downtown Topeka’s future and a strong understanding of the partnerships required to help move that vision forward. His passion for this community, coupled with his ability to align stakeholders around shared priorities, makes him the right leader for Downtown Topeka’s next chapter.”
Ross said community leaders across Topeka have shown confidence in Flood’s abilities and believe he is well-positioned to guide the downtown area as it continues to grow and expand. Flood said he is looking forward to working with stakeholders and serving the local community.

DTI’s former president, Andrew Holt, left the organization in April this year. Rhiannon Friedman, president of GO Topeka, served as interim president.
