Tonight, temperatures will only fall into the middle 70s as south winds continue to gust near 20 mph through early Friday morning. We will remain clear throughout the night.
An Extreme Heat Warning is now in effect through Tuesday for all of northeast Kansas. Temperatures will continue running well above average, with normal highs for this time of year typically in the middle 80s. Despite the extreme heat, moderately dry air will keep heat index values close to the actual air temperature, with highs climbing into the lower 100s. South winds will remain breezy at 10 to 20 mph.
Looking ahead, a hot and dry holiday weekend is on tap. High temperatures will remain in the upper 90s through Labor Day under a mostly sunny sky. Hopefully our next cold front will be moving in late next week, but temperatures will likely remain above average and quite hot for early September.
