TOPEKA (KSNT) – Traffic is blocked around a downtown Topeka intersection where there is currently a large police presence.
According to witnesses, the situation began just before noon Thursday, Sept. 3 at Southwest Seventh Street and Southwest Van Buren Street. A 27 News reporter on the scene said officers appear to be focused on the northeast corner of the intersection. Officers with the Topeka Police Department (TPD) are at the scene.
Prosecutors charge man with murder in death of Topeka teen
A TPD spokeswoman confirmed this is an active investigation scene. She said police ask that the public avoid the area until further notice.
