TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Trojans took down the Highland Park Scots on Thursday night.
Topeka High grabbed the 33-6 win over Highland Park to open up the football season for Topeka.
The Trojans struck first to jump to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter.
In the second, Topeka High’s Asher Filbeck connected with Courtney Sanders for a 17-yard touchdown.
Before the end of the first half the Trojans would score two more touchdowns and lead 26-0 at the break.
Topeka would continue their momentum into the third quarter, with Ricardo Down recording an eight-yard rushing touchdown.
Highland Park would score their first touchdown of the night on a 27-yard touchdown.
The Trojans were led by senior Courtney Sanders, who scored three touchdowns on the night.
