TOPEKA (KSNT) – Eleven Kansas rural hospitals are receiving federal funding through a new financial assistance program.
U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) announced on Friday, Sept. 11 the investments were made possible by the Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program. The program provides direct financial assistance to rural hospitals facing structural payment disadvantages.
“Local hospitals are critical to the health and success of rural communities in Kansas and across the country,” Moran said in a press release. “During last year’s appropriations process, I helped establish the Rural Hospital Provider Assistance Program to help make certain that rural hospitals in Kansas receive the stability and certainty they need to continue delivering quality care to Kansans in their communities.”
Officials said the investments are part of nearly $25 million awarded to providers across the country to strengthen small rural hospitals and help maintain access to care for patients in rural areas. The Kansas recipients included are:
- AdventHealth Ottawa
- Coffeyville Regional Medical Center
- Labette County Medical Center
- McPherson Hospital, Inc.
- Miami County Medical Center
- Pratt Regional Medical Center
- Salina Surgical Hospital
- Stormont Vail – Flint Hills
- Summit Surgical, LLC in Hutchinson
- Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado
- University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend Campus
