TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office has released an update on two of its deputies who were injured in an ATV crash Wednesday.
Abigail Christian with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office told 27 News that the two deputies have been released from the hospital and are now recovering at their respective homes.

Both deputies were participating in the search for a wanted man that began at 7:40 a.m. on Sept. 9 in the area of Southwest First Street and Northwest Crane Terrace. The 47-year-old man had reportedly run from law enforcement into a nearby wooded area. He was taken into custody later that day.
The deputies were injured in an ATV crash near Northwest MacVicar Avenue and Interstate 70 during the search. Christian said one deputy sustained minor injuries and was treated and released that day. She said the other deputy’s injuries were non-life-threatening he and was released from the hospital on Thursday.
