TOPEKA (KSNT) – Officials with Topeka High School have announced the cancellation of the homecoming parade Friday due to anticipated weather conditions.
Staff at Topeka High School made the announcement shortly after noon on Sept. 25, stating that forecasted weather conditions have prompted school officials to cancel the planned homecoming parade. Students were previously set to participate in the parade and other activities around 12:50 p.m. and through the remainder of the school day as part of homecoming week celebrations.
“Students will return from lunch to their Trojan Time as previously planned. They will remain in Trojan Time until Running of the Halls at 1:30. Band Members, Cheerleaders, Dance Team Members and Varsity Athletes will be released at 1:15 to prepare for Running of the Halls starting on the first floor. Students will then be asked to return to Trojan Time briefly before being dismissed to the auditorium by announcement for the Homecoming Assembly which will start at approximately 2:00.”

School officials said the homecoming crowning event is still set to happen as scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 25 prior to the football game at Hummer Sports Park.
