MANHATTAN (KSNT) – A fire at a Manhattan furniture store sent a local firefighter to the hospital.
Becky Ryan with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that the Blue Township Fire Department responded to the fire shortly before 7:35 p.m. Sept. 28 at a furniture store in the 7900 block of U.S. 24 in Manhattan. Mutual aid crews from surrounding agencies also responded.
Firefighters contained the fire to a storage area in the rear of the building, but smoke spread throughout the structure. Crews were able to bring the fire under control a few hours later.

Ryan said one firefighter was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
Feldkamp’s Furniture posted on social media that its Manhattan store is temporarily closed due to Monday night’s fire.
