TOPEKA (KSNT) – Whiskey lovers will be glad to know that a popular brand will be staying on the shelves in the U.S. despite a recent ban on imports from Canada.
A ban on bringing in alcohol from Canada, including beer, vodka, and whiskey, took effect on Sept. 29. Even though Crown Royal is produced in Canada, it is bottled in the U.S., which means U.S. jobs are used to make the popular whiskey.
“Here in Kansas, there’s not a lot that are affected because in being it’s Kansas, we’re not one of the big alcohol drinking states,” said Bryan McDonald, owner of Flemming Place Wine and Spirits. “So, we really only carry those bigger brands. Crown Royal. Some of the more popular brands, they have already heard this was coming and got ahead of it.”

One notable vodka that is now banned in the U.S. is Crystal Head vodka, known for its skull-shaped bottles.
