TOPEKA (KSNT) – Carmen Hill and Connie Wagers with Race Against Breast Cancer spoke with 27 News Anchor David George on Wednesday morning about an upcoming 5K race.
Hill and Wagers talked about the upcoming 35th Race Against Breast Cancer 5K run and walk set for this Saturday. The annual event raises money to help people in Topeka and across northeast Kansas afford cancer screenings.
“There will be free food and drink, there will be merchandise you can purchase. There will be a silent auction with various baskets that we’ve had some generous donations come in that you can bid on,” Hill said. “You can go out online and see what’s loaded for that basket auction now and start the bidding process right now, as a matter of fact.”
Hill said the final day to register for the race online is Wednesday, Sept. 30. However, there will be another option to register in-person from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 during volunteer setup.
The 5K race is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 at Reynolds Lodge at Lake Shawnee. More information is available on the Race Against Breast Cancer website.
