WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A 41‑year‑old Salina woman died Wednesday after she was hit by an SUV while crossing the street at a north Salina intersection, according to police.
The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. at Ninth and Elm streets.

Police said a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a juvenile, was stopped on Elm Street waiting to turn south onto Ninth. At the same time, a woman was standing on the south side of Elm, preparing to cross Ninth.
When the traffic light turned green and the pedestrian signal changed, both the SUV and the woman began moving.
The Tahoe hit the woman as she crossed in the crosswalk, police said. She was taken to Salina Regional Health Center, where she later died from her injuries. Her name is being withheld until her family has been notified.

Salina police said the driver’s name and any citation information will not be released because of the driver’s age.
