KANSAS CITY, Mo. — When was the last time a Democrat won the U.S. Senate seat in Kansas?
This November, voters in Kansas will decide whether incumbent U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall (R) gets another term, or if challenger Adam Hamilton (D) will replace him in a race that could impact the balance of power.
How to watch the Kansas U.S. Senate debate between Sen. Marshall, Adam Hamilton
It’s been 94 years since Kansas elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate. The last time a Democrat won a U.S. Senate seat in Kansas was 1932.
It was 1930 when George McGill first entered the Senate after winning a special election. In 1932, he won re-election. This marks the last time a Democrat won the U.S. Senate seat.
Now, Adam Hamilton hopes to break that streak.
Who is Kansas U.S. Senator Roger Marshall?
Several polls have found Hamilton with a narrow lead, including a FOX4 poll last month. But those results have remained within the margin of error — meaning it’s too close to call.
FOX4 will televise and stream the debate between Marshall and Hamilton on Wednesday, Oct. 21. FOX4’s John Holt will moderate the debate, which is taking place at the FOX4 studio.
