EMPORIA (KSNT) — The Hornets know exactly where they need to improve to pick up a win on Homecoming Weekend.
Despite getting off to a 7-0 start to the season, Emporia State football knows there’s always room for improvement.
The offense got off to a slow start in last weekend’s matchup against Central Oklahoma. Some explosive plays and defensive/special teams scores helped get the offense moving, leading to an eventual 23-16 win.
“We’re struggling a little bit, offensively,” head coach Garin Higgins said. “We know we’re going to have to score more points than we did last week.”
The defense had a stellar performance last weekend, with linebacker Jake Tucker taking home Defensive Player of the Week honors from multiple organizations to kick off the week.
ESU’s defense will also get a big boost with the return of Landon Boss, who sat out of last week’s contest following a hamstring injury in the Oct. 10 game against Missouri Southern.
This weekend’s matchup Central Missouri is set for 7 p.m.
