TOPEKA (KSNT) – Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas celebrated its new Family Support Center in Topeka with a community open house Friday.
The center, located at 245 SW MacVicar Ave., is the former home of Let’s Help, Inc. Catholic Charities acquired Let’s Help’s assets in June 2026.
Kurtis Grothoff, chief development officer for Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas, said the organization has seen an increase in demand for food assistance in recent years.
“Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen an increase in the need here in Topeka,” Grothoff said. “We’ve just seen increased traffic into our food pantry at our former location. So, we knew that expanding our food pantry was something that we wanted to do.”
The new center will offer a food pantry with fresh and shelf-stable foods, hygiene and cleaning supplies and a clothing closet. The organization also provides hot meals five days a week and access to more than 25 programs designed to help individuals and families with long-term needs.

Grothoff said the goal is to connect people with resources beyond immediate food assistance. The food pantry is scheduled to open to the public Monday, Nov. 2.
Community members can support the organization by donating food and supplies or volunteering. More information is available at Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.
