KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A brand new poll is giving us fresh insight on what’s happening in the Kansas Senate race, just four days before the votes are counted.
This new poll for FOX4’s parent company, Nexstar, and Emerson College was taken this week, after our FOX4 debate in the Kansas Senate race, and after weeks of nasty political ads that have blanketed the state.

In the Senate race, Democrat Adam Hamilton got 49% support to 45% for Republican incumbent Roger Marshall. Three percent support Libertarian David Graham.
That four-point advantage for Hamilton is more than the two-point lead he had in the same poll last month, but it still falls within the margin of error, making this a statistical dead heat.
A key part of this survey: We found that independents are turning to Hamilton more than 2-to-1 over Marshall.
“Statistically speaking, we can see it falling in both directions. What I’ll say is when we look at that data, we study trends, and the trend would be trending to the left, and that would be a concern if I’m the incumbent Marshall,” Spencer Kimball, director of Emerson College Polling, said.

Our poll of 800 likely voters in Kansas found Republican Senate President Ty Masterson ahead in the race for governor, 50% to 46%, against Democratic State Sen. Cindy Holscher.
It could be good news for Holscher, who trailed Masterson by seven points in the same poll in September.
The number one issue for voters: The economy. Nearly half cited it as their top concern in this election.
