TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka man has pleaded guilty to illegally receiving a firearm while under indictment following a federal investigation at a local strip club.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Leonard Rrapaj, 62, pleaded guilty to one count of illegal receipt of a firearm while under indictment. A federal grand jury indicted Rrapaj on June 10, 2025, on charges involving the alleged possession of a machine gun equipped with a conversion device.
Court records show federal agents raided the Topeka Sports Cabaret in June 2025, seizing 41 firearms, about $1 million in cash hidden inside a wall, money-counting machines and other items. Prosecutors alleged Rrapaj was prohibited from receiving a firearm because he was already under federal indictment.
As part of the plea agreement, Rrapaj admitted that after being indicted and released on bond conditions, he received a semiautomatic pistol and ammunition. Investigators found the firearm on Aug. 18, 2025, during the execution of a search warrant at the strip club, which prosecutors said also served as Rrapaj’s residence. The gun was recovered from a bedroom used by Rrapaj.
Topeka man sentenced to life in prison after 2024 deadly shooting
Under the agreement, prosecutors and defense attorneys jointly recommend a sentence of 21 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release. In exchange for the guilty plea, federal prosecutors agreed to dismiss the remaining count in the superseding indictment and not pursue additional charges related to the Glock handgun and conversion device seized during the June 2025 investigation.
Rrapaj faces a statutory maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 10, 2027.
