SALINA (KSNT) – President Donald Trump is returning to Kansas on Sunday night for a campaign rally in Salina as Republicans make a final push to hold onto a key U.S. Senate seat ahead of Election Day.
Trump is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1. The visit comes as the race between Republican incumbent U.S. Senator Roger Marshall and Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton enters its final days.
Hamilton issued a video response to the president’s visit on social media earlier in the day.
The rally marks Trump’s second stop in Kansas during the campaign and underscores the national attention focused on the state’s Senate race. According to the latest Nexstar-Emerson poll, Hamilton holds a five-point lead over Marshall.
Kansas candidates make final pitch to voters
Republicans currently hold a 53-47 majority in the U.S. Senate, while Democrats need four seats to regain control of the chamber. Political observers say the outcome in Kansas could play a role in shaping Trump’s ability to advance his agenda over the next two years.
Marshall’s campaign and Republican leaders are hoping Trump’s appearance will energize conservative voters and drive turnout before polls close Tuesday. Hamilton, meanwhile, has argued that Trump’s rallies may also motivate Democratic and independent voters who oppose the president.
