TOPEKA (KSNT) – Officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) are waiving day use fees at recreational areas nationwide for an upcoming federal holiday.
Staff with the USACE announced in a press release that day use fees will be waived for Veterans Day on Nov. 11 in solidarity of the holiday and to celebrate those who have served in the nation’s armed forces. This includes over 2,850 recreational areas operated by the USACE across the nation.
People will not have to pay fees tied to boat launch ramps or swim beaches on Nov. 11. However, USACE staff said the waiver doesn’t apply to camping and camping-related services. Fees for specialized facilities, like group picnic shelters, and other events are not covered on Veteran’s Day.
People who do intend to visit a USACE lake or river area are encouraged to contact the appropriate local offices prior to their visit to make sure the areas they want to visit are open. You can find a list of USACE recreation sites online by clicking here.
