EMPORIA (KSNT) – Drivers traveling through Emporia can expect delays as a weeks-long pavement repair project is set to get underway on I-35.
Kate Craft with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) said work on both directions of I-35 is scheduled to begin on Monday, Nov. 9 at the U.S. 50 junction and continue west to the I-335/KTA interchange. A lane closure will be in place at the location where crews are actively working.

Craft said drivers should also expect intermittent ramp closures. All traffic control will remain in place during non-working hours. KDOT officials encourage drivers to stay alert and slow down while traveling through work zones.
R.A. Knapp Construction Inc., of Lenexa, is the primary contractor for this $524,000 project. Craft said the company expects to complete the project in December.
