TOPEKA (KSNT) — The holiday season is getting a little brighter in Topeka as West Ridge Mall brings back its Lights for Christmas display, with more decorations and holiday magic for families this year.
The mall is going bigger and better than ever before, with an expanded light display designed to give visitors a festive place to enjoy the holiday season. Casey Richardson, general manager and director of operations at West Ridge Mall, said planning for this year’s display began shortly after the previous holiday season ended.
“We first started meeting in January, right after last holiday season,” Richardson said. “And then, of course, throughout the process, you know, creative process of just deciding what we were going to do.”
Richardson said the installation itself takes about two weeks, but the preparation and creative planning begins months in advance. Mall staff partnered with Curb Appeal and Power Wash to help bring the display to life.

Richardson said the goal was to make the mall a magical place for families during the holidays and encourage people to visit, even if they aren’t shopping.
“I think the whole inspiration behind the entire Christmas season was just making it magical for families,” Richardson said.
Visitors can also enjoy West Ridge Live, which features live music on Thursday nights. Richardson encourages people to stop by, walk around the mall and take in everything the holiday season has to offer.
You can find West Ridge Mall at 1801 SW Wanamaker Rd. in west Topeka. You can learn more about what it has to offer by checking out its website.
