TOPEKA (KSNT) – City officials and others broke ground on a new $60 million apartment complex just south of Topeka’s downtown area this week in the latest push to create more housing opportunities for locals.
City of Topeka leadership and members of The Annex Group broke ground on the new Union at Tower District apartment complex on June 3. The new housing center is expected to provide residents 250 one, two and three-bedroom apartment units to choose from.
“This is just an excellent opportunity to bring multiple groups together to develop housing that wouldn’t have happened without all the different structures involved in order to make it work,” said Ryan Clark, vice-president of development at The Annex Group.

The Annex Group plans on constructing two four-story buildings and one three-story building with a total price tag near $60 million. Project partners for this new apartment center include BVH Architecture, REGA Engineering, SBB Engineering and Impact Housing Indiana, Corp. along with the City of Topeka.

People are being told to expect the project to be wrapped up sometime in January 2027. You can learn more about the project by going to The Annex Group’s website.
