TOPEKA (KSNT) – Firefighters were at the Goodyear Tire Distribution plant in Topeka Monday morning responding to a fire.
A 27 News reporter at the scene said there were Topeka Fire Department (TFD) vehicles and personnel at the Goodyear plant at 2000 U.S. Highway 24 on the morning of June 2. City of Topeka spokesman Dan Garrett said fire crews with Soldier and Silver Lake townships were assisting with this situation.
“At approximately 9:40 a.m. today, a fire occurred in the mixing area at the Goodyear-Topeka plant. Our on-site fire and rescue team responded immediately and worked in coordination with the Topeka Fire Department and Soldier Township Fire Department to contain the fire. As a precaution, the plant was temporarily evacuated. Production safely resumed after the fire was contained. There are no known or reported injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.”
