TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka man is showing his hometown pride in a permanent way.
To show his loyalty to a local favorite restaurant, Mark Dickey got a very special tattoo that has Topekans talking. The Bobo’s Drive In tattoo is bold, unmistakable, and hard to miss on Dickey’s calf. The bright red logo is now permanent ink on his leg. It’s a tribute to one of Topeka’s most iconic restaurants.
For Dickey it’s more than a tattoo, it’s a piece of home.
“I’m born and raised here,” Dickey said. “So, I mean, it’s been around as long as I have and even longer.”
The tattoo was done by Fine Line Tattoo artist Kevin Large. He says he’s done plenty of wild tattoos in his 16 years, but his is the first Bobo’s tattoo he’s inked.

“A privilege to do something like this, you know, especially being born and raised in Topeka,” Large said. “It’s kind of neat to see the other interesting things people bring into the shop.”
Dickey is a regular at Bobo’s. One worker says the tattoo is a symbol of his loyalty to the small business.
“I thought it was awesome. I was like, I was shocked,” Bobo’s worker Tristan Marsh said. “Bobo’s is a staple to Topeka, Kansas, but we love our customers.”
The restaurant says they are flattered by the tribute. They even gave Dickey free food when he came in to show off his new ink.
