TOPEKA (KSNT) – Riley County Police Department (RCPD) Deputy Director Erin Freidline joined the 27 News morning show on Tuesday to discuss the recent Click it or Ticket campaign, the county’s low crime rate and how the RCPD handles community engagement.
The RCPD focused on seatbelts, texting and driving, impaired driving and other traffic laws during this year’s enforcement campaign that ran from May 18 to June 2. The department reported that it made 128 vehicle stops throughout the campaign.
“Between our intelligence unit, and we have a special investigations unit, we are constantly getting tips all the time about ‘hey something’s stirring up here’, this is the nice thing about a small community is people will kind of try to help prevent violence and so they’ll reach out to us,” Freidline said.

Freidline spoke on the low crime rate in their area. She said the RCPD wants to keep it that way.
“That always continues to be an effort that we like to focus on,” Freidline said. “But really, the community helps generate those leads and tips that we need to solve crime.”
