MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Manhattan Urban Area Planning Board has approved a request to replat two lots, allowing an Islamic religious center to expand.
On Monday, the planning board approved a request from the Islamic Center of Manhattan to replat two lots as a one-lot subdivision so a community center can be built. The lots are currently occupied by a mosque, according to the proposal filing.
Before the community center can be built, a Traffic Impact Study (TIS) will need to be submitted to determine the effect the center could have on traffic along Claflin Road and Hylton Heights Road.

The plat will eliminate an existing driveway on Claflin Road and designate the subdivision’s frontage along the roadway as “no-access”. The first 114 feet of Claflin Road along Hylton Heights Road will also be no-access for the location’s first road access point, according to the replat filing.
The planning board approved the request unanimously.
