RILEY COUNTY (KSNT) – Riley County announced that it would no longer be offering driver’s license renewals as part of a cost-saving measure.
On Friday, July 18, Riley County announced that the Treasurer’s Office will stop processing license renewals after Aug. 29, 2025. Starting in September, residents will need to go to the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR) Division of Vehicles at 8200 South Port Drive off of Highway 24 for license renewals, ID cards and driving tests.
“For many years, we were able to offer driver’s license renewals as a convenience but due to budget constraints we can no longer provide services that are not statutorily required. This change is part of our effort to trim the budget and be good stewards of taxpayer dollars,” explained Shilo Heger, Riley County Treasurer.

In the press release, the County said the Treasurer’s Office will continue providing motor vehicle registration and property tax payment services.
