TOPEKA (KSNT) – A major retail store at West Ridge Mall will be closing its doors for the last time in the coming weeks.
27 News got in touch with West Ridge Mall Manager Casey Richardson who said that Kirkland’s Home will be closing its location in the shopping center. She said the final date of operation is Sept. 30, 2025.
“We’re thankful for their time here and the customers they’ve served,” Richardson said. “As the mall continues to evolve, we’re excited about the future and the opportunities ahead as part of our ongoing redevelopment efforts.”

Kirkland’s exit follows the departure of another longtime mall tenant: JCPenny. West Ridge Mall is currently undergoing major redevelopment efforts as Advisors Excel seeks to transform the mall and transfer some of its offices into the building.
Advisors Excel told 27 News in early 2025 that it hopes to bring in numerous new stores to the mall to increase shopping opportunities there. These include a Nordstrom Rack, Ann Taylor, Gap, Banana Republic, Sprouts and more.
Kirkland’s Home currently has three other locations in Kansas. These can be found in Wichita and the Kansas City area.
