TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka nonprofit is teaming up with the state’s health agency to offer expanded mental, physical and maternal health services to local residents.
Strengthening and Equipping Neighborhoods Together (SENT) Inc. announced in a press release on July 29 that it will be partnering with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) to offer locals greater access to health services in southeast Topeka. The initiative, funded through a $250,000 grant, is active from May 2025 to June 2026.
“This partnership gives us the power to not only walk beside expectant moms with a beautiful, customized circle of support—but to also elevate the standard of care and compassion for every woman and family that reaches out to us,” said Johnathan Sublet, executive director of SENT Inc. “This work is not just about pregnancy. It’s about protecting mental health, building resilience, and creating systems that see the whole person and family. When we do that, we don’t just change outcomes—we change generations.”

SENT Inc. reports the initiative will help support women, infants and families with doula care, chiropractic support, occupational therapy, massage, mental and physical health support and more. SENT Inc. promises to do the following under this new partnership:
- Expand maternal, child and adolescent health services at its Southside Wellness Clinic. This includes well-woman exams, flu shots, STD testing and routine labs.
- Provide expecting moms with doula care through SENT’s partnership with the Topeka Doula Project. Doula care includes emotional, physical and education support to moms before, during and after childbirth.
- Broaden access to mental health and addiction counseling through the use of a comprehensive wellness model.
- Ensure families can get essential care through transportation options like People Mover, Uber, Lyft or bus.
- Deliver services in a “one-stop shop” approach by integrating Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) access via mRelief, therapy and case management, food access through the Southside Filling Station and individualized referrals.
- Capture data and patient stores to better inform outcomes and advocate for systemic change.
“Too often, women fall through the cracks before, during, or after pregnancy,” Sublet said. “This partnership ensures we’re not just filling those gaps—we’re building bridges to long-term wellness.”
SENT Inc. said it will share more about the resources available through its platforms to keep members of the community engaged and informed as the pilot project moves forward. You can find the main SENT Inc. office at 455 Southeast Golf Park Boulevard in Suite 119 and can reach out to the organization by calling 785-783-2535 or by emailing info@senttopeka.com.
