TOPEKA (KSNT) – Shawnee County work crews are trying to fix a water-line break that has closed part of north Topeka Boulevard.
Shawnee County spokeswoman Amanda Monhollon said in a press release on Sept. 8 that Northwest Topeka Boulevard is completely closed near where it meets with Rolyan Road. She said the closure was caused by a six-inch water-line break.
Shawnee County Public Works will be placing steel plates over the impacted section of the boulevard by 3:30 p.m. each day to allow for both lanes of traffic to continue. The area will be closed to traffic from around 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day while the repairs are underway. People are encouraged to use the following detour routes:
- Southbound drivers will detour east to Northwest 35th Street to Kansas Avenue, then head south on Kansas Avenue to Menninger Road and then go west on Menninger Road back to Topeka Boulevard.
- Northbound traffic will detour east on Menninger Road to Kansas Avenue, then go north on Kansas Avenue to Northwest 35th Street and head west on Northwest 35th Street back onto Topeka Boulevard.
“Shawnee County Public Works thanks the public for their patience and cooperation while this necessary repair is completed.”
