SHAWNEE COUNTY (KSNT) – Local first responders jumped into action Monday morning after reports of a one-vehicle crash on I-70.
Personnel with Shawnee County Fire District 4 were called around 9:40 a.m. on Sept. 29 to an area on I-70 just west of Topeka due to a reported one-vehicle crash, according to a social media post. First responders arriving at the scene found one person suffering from life-threatening injuries.
A LifeStar air ambulance helicopter responded to the situation with I-70 being shut down around 10:15 a.m. to allow it to land safely. Flight paramedics helped transport the patient to a nearby level one trauma center at around 10:45 a.m. for treatment.
