TOPEKA (KSNT)- Student musicians from across the area took the field in a competition for the area’s best marching bands.
Today Washburn University hosted its annual the Capital City Marching band Festival. More than 750 students from eight area high schools took to Yager Field to show their skills.

“It’s a great opportunity for other high schools to get to come out and visit our university,” Assistant Director of Bands at Washburn University, Patrick Yeh said. “It’s a great chance for them to perform. Because ultimately that’s what we want to do here with marching bands. Everybody just wants to have a good time and put on a great show.”
All proceeds support Washburn’s Marching Band Program.
