LAWRENCE (KSNT) – The University of Kansas’s student-run radio station, KJHK, is celebrating 50 years on the air with a four-day event.
Founded on Oct. 15 1975, KJHK has been playing alternative music and covering KU sports for five decades. It broadcasts 24/7 365 days a year on 90.7 FM.
Over the years, the station has provided hundreds of students with their first broadcasting and media experiences. To celebrate 50 years of “the sound alternative,” KJHK will host station tours, a silent auction and three days of concerts.
Kansas Silent Film Festival to host screening at Grace Cathedral in Topeka
“We hope to celebrate all that we’ve accomplished in our time as a station and the community that makes it all possible. We’re planning this event with a focus on community engagement, environmental sustainability, and accessibility.”

The festivities include:
- October 15: Station tours and silent auction 4-7 p.m.
- October 16: Large scale concert at Granada – Mei Semones.
- October 17 & 18: Local music festival at nine venues in Lawrence.
Kansas Farm Bureau receives large grant for rural apprenticeship program
