MANHATTAN (KSNT) – Fourth year veterinary student, Amanda Bolinger, was recently honored with the prestigious Coyote Rock Ranch Veterinary Scholarship worth $75,000.
Bolinger is a student in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University. Her knowledge and skills related to the medical treatment of horses landed her one of the nation’s top scholarships for veterinary students pursuing equine medicine.

“I’ve had so many amazing opportunities through my short time in this career,” said Bolinger in a press release from K-State. “Equine veterinary medicine has been the greatest adventure of my life, and I am honored to be able to continue serving horses and their people.”
Coyote Rock Ranch is a horse breeding operation in central Oregon that matches top-performing mares with proven sires to produce champion show horses and race horses. The ranch partners with The Foundation for the Horse to support the next generation of veterinary school students across the country.
“Amanda, like our college’s previous recipients of the Coyote Rock Ranch Scholarship, exemplifies the equine-specific education and training that reflects the dedication of our faculty, house officers and staff,” said Elizabeth Davis, interim dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. “Throughout her education, Amanda has distinguished herself as a remarkable student — demonstrating exceptional commitment, professionalism and passion for equine practice. Her future is exceptionally bright, and we look forward to following her continued success.”

Bolinger intends to become a surgeon in equine veterinary medicine and dedicate the first five years of year career to internships and residencies. The scholarship will help prioritize programs that are aligned with her goals while she seeks busy caseloads for more hands-on experience.
K-State has produced three other Coyote Rock Ranch Scholarship recipients since the program began: Jenni Kristek in 2016 and Anne Brien and Bailey Fritz where both honored in 2023.
